This is a list of practices that most millionaires use to start their day with that help them commit to their goals, stay motivated, and stay focused. Any of these can be adopted by anyone. I personally adopted all of these habits, and have been doing all of them every morning first thing when I wake up in the morning. Doing these habits have clearly helped me improve my performance and my attitude throughout the day.
Meditation is a practice that many cultures use all over the world. There are many scientific studies that show that people who meditate on a daily basis live longer and stay mentally healthy longer. For me, meditation allows me to clear my mind and escape any stress that I have been experiencing. I only meditate for about 10 minutes each morning, but it has definitely made a big impact on my overall mood throughout the day.
I am not going to write out all of the benefits of physical exercise because everyone already knows them. The one thing I will point out is that getting your blood pumping first thing in the morning stimulates your brain. I have found that I am not as tired in the morning on the days that I exercised right after getting out of bed. It really does seem to give me a jumpstart to the day. I don’t always have time for a full work out… so on those days I just do a quick 100 jumping jacks that only takes a couple of minutes, and even doing this seems to give me the same benefit.
Some people like to write in a journal and some like to just write some thoughts on a notepad. I like to write down my top 5 goals that I am working on each morning. It is just one more way that I can re-emphasize what I need to be focusing on each and every day and it does help keep me on track.
The average American reads an average of about 1 book per year. The top performing CEOs in corporate America read an average of 60 books per year! These CEOs are also making over 300X as much money as the average American. My personal goal is to read at least 1 book per month. By reading just 10 minutes per day, this goal is quite achievable. By reading books we continue to learn and find new ways to continually improve ourselves in all aspects of life.
Just as professional golfers like to visualize their shot before they take it, watching the golf ball fly straight, land on the green and roll into the hole, we should be spending time to visualize our results on whatever challenge is before us. If your goal is to become a millionaire, visualize what it is going to be like being a millionaire. Visualize walking through your luxury home, driving your Ferrari, and spending time on the beach on your luxury vacation.
Doing affirmations helps your subconscious mind start to believe what you want it to believe. Some people prefer to speak their affirmations out loud, but I like to listen to them while I am driving to work in the morning. Affirmations are a great motivator and they help you change your beliefs about success and money at the same time.
