“The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod

I read this book for the first time earlier this year because I heard so many good things about it on several different podcasts that I listen to.  This is a personal development / self improvement book, and here is the basic rundown on what the book is about.

The author outlines 6 things that you should do every single day, and you should do them first thing when you wake up in the morning.  He says that if you do these 6 things, you will see major improvement in just about every single aspect of your life.

He argues that doing these 6 things every day is more important than getting a full 8 hours of sleep every night, so it is worth waking up a little bit earlier than you normally do to make sure you do these 6 things.  The 6 things that he talks about in the book are

  • Silence
  • Affirmations
  • Visualizations
  • Scribing
  • Reading
  • Exercise

By setting aside one hour (10 minutes for each thing) every morning, the author promises that you will start to see amazing results and some real positive changes in your life.  I was intrigued by this so I thought that I would try it.

I am probably one of the worst morning people ever.  I hate waking up early, but I wanted to put this concept to the test.  For almost 2 months I woke up extra early to do these 6 things.  I can attest that I did feel great for the rest of the day and it certainly had a positive impact on my life.  It was very hard to stick to, and I can’t say that I still do all 6 things every morning.

I do still do several of these things every day, but I need to get back on track to doing all 6 first thing when I wake up.  This book is definitely worth reading because it will absolutely have a positive impact on multiple aspects of your life.
